Rob has lived in Indianapolis, Indiana all of his life. He is a third generation trial attorney with over 40 years of experience. His primary practice areas include serious injury and death cases. He has been married for over 35 years, and has 4 children and 2 grandchildren. Rob is very involved with his children and coached many of their activities. He loves the relatively new grandparent role. Rob and his wife Shelly are long time parishioners of St. Barnabas Catholic Church.

Rob attended Indiana University – Bloomington from 1970 – 1974 and graduated from the Kelley School of Business with a BS Degree in May, 1974. In the Fall of 1974, he started law school at Indiana University – Indianapolis and graduated with his JD degree in the Spring of 1977. During his last year of law school, he was an intern with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. That employment allowed him to try both court and jury trials for a full year before graduation.

Upon his graduation from law school in 1977, Rob was hired as a trial attorney by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. His trial experience includes juvenile matters, traffic court, misdemeanors and felonies. He supervised the Juvenile Division early in his career and later went on to supervise one of the major felony Criminal Courts in Marion County for several years. When he left the Prosecutor’s Office in the early nineties, he worked as a public defender for a short period of time before transitioning to a full time private practice.

A PRACTICE, FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY

Rob also started his private practice in 1977. He joined his grandfather, A.M. Thomas and his father, Major General Joseph A. Thomas, in the practice of law on the south side of Indianapolis. Both were strong personal injury litigators from whom he learned invaluable lessons in life and the law.
